Biography
Marc Ben Hafsia is an international tax leader and French-qualified lawyer with over two decades of experience spanning banking, asset management, private equity, payments, mergers and acquisitions, international tax planning and cross-border transactions. [[PARAGRAPH]] His recent senior appointments have included Global Head of Tax at EML Payments, where he has overseen tax matters across multiple jurisdictions in Europe, North America, the Middle East and Asia-Pacific. His responsibilities have encompassed global tax strategy, compliance, planning, mergers and acquisitions, restructuring, tax-risk management, disputes, budgeting and reporting to executive management and the Board. [[PARAGRAPH]] Marc previously served as Associate Tax Director within the private-equity tax function at Pantheon Venture. In this role, he oversaw compliance and tax advisory matters for United States and international entities, supported private-equity transactions, conducted tax due diligence and advised on deal structuring, transfer pricing, FATCA, CRS and cross-border tax planning. [[PARAGRAPH]] His financial-services experience also includes senior tax appointments at Grant Thornton UK, Saxo Bank, Lloyds Banking Group and Insight Investment. Across these roles, he has led international tax functions, advised on banking and investment transactions, managed tax audits and regulatory change, implemented tax technology and automation, and developed controls to mitigate financial, compliance and reputational risks. [[PARAGRAPH]] Earlier in his career, Marc practised as a senior tax lawyer through MBH Law LLP in London and Paris. He advised multinational clients on international taxation, transfer pricing, mergers and acquisitions, commercial agreements, disputes and global reporting obligations. His work included advising African clients operating in OHADA and non-OHADA jurisdictions across mining, oil, infrastructure and other major commercial sectors. [[PARAGRAPH]] Marc also held senior tax responsibilities at ALSTOM Transport and Amundi. His work included analysing the tax implications of tenders issued by African countries, supporting tax-efficient bid structures, assessing transaction risks and developing relationships with tax authorities across African jurisdictions. Within asset management, he advised on international tax compliance, investment vehicles, transfer pricing and the impact of regulatory change. [[PARAGRAPH]] Marc holds a Master’s degree in International Tax from the University of Paris and completed his professional legal training at the French Bar School. He is bilingual in English and French and has intermediate proficiency in Spanish. [[PARAGRAPH]] As a member of the Board of ATIB, Marc contributes extensive experience in international taxation, cross-border structuring, banking, investment funds, payments, mergers and acquisitions and regulatory risk. His perspective supports the Board’s oversight of ATIB’s international operations, transaction structures, tax governance and long-term institutional development.
