Francis Ibe

Biography

Francis Ibe is an international banking executive and institutional turnaround leader with over two decades of experience spanning investment banking, commercial and retail banking, financial control, credit analysis and administration, relationship management, business development and executive leadership. [[PARAGRAPH]] As Managing Director of Africa Trade & Investment Bank, Francis is responsible for translating the institution’s strategic direction into commercial priorities, operational delivery and sustainable business growth. His leadership encompasses client development, institutional performance, risk discipline, team management and the continued development of ATIB’s investment-banking and lending capabilities. [[PARAGRAPH]] Francis previously served as the founding Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Pan African Finance Rwanda. In that role, he led the process through which the institution secured investment-banking and lending licences and established its corporate and investment-banking operations. His responsibilities included developing institutional strategy, cultivating client relationships, leading investment-banking teams and overseeing transactions involving mergers and acquisitions, capital raising and structured financial solutions. [[PARAGRAPH]] His subsequent executive appointments included Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer roles at Mez Credit Finance and Woodhall Finance in Nigeria. Across these positions, he led strategic planning, client acquisition, commercial and business-banking development, regulatory engagement, risk management and organisational performance. His leadership contributed to the turnaround of finance companies from loss-making positions to profitability and record financial performance. [[PARAGRAPH]] Earlier in his career, Francis held senior commercial, retail and relationship-management positions with Keystone Bank, Sterling Bank and Intercontinental Bank. He managed branch balance sheets, credit portfolios, client relationships, marketing teams and business-development strategies. His record includes transforming underperforming branches into profitable operations, substantially increasing customer deposits and strengthening foreign-exchange, trade and low-cost deposit performance. [[PARAGRAPH]] At Sterling Bank’s Alaba branch, Francis helped grow monthly profitability from approximately ₦2 million to ₦18 million and positioned the branch among the Bank’s leading locations for foreign-exchange activity, bills for collection and low-cost deposits. At Keystone Bank, he supported the growth of total deposits from approximately ₦1.5 billion to ₦4.5 billion and restored the branch to profitability. [[PARAGRAPH]] Francis began his banking career across credit monitoring, financial control and reporting roles at IMB International Bank, Continental Trust Bank and United Bank for Africa. His responsibilities included Central Bank reporting, liquidity and cost-of-funds analysis, profitability reporting, statutory returns, risk-asset monitoring and credit-compliance review. He also participated in banking-system migrations and the merger integration between United Bank for Africa and Continental Trust Bank. [[PARAGRAPH]] Francis holds a Master of Business Administration from the University of Nigeria and a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Calabar. He is a member of the Chartered Institute of Economics of Nigeria and has completed professional training in investment banking, credit analysis, financial analysis, leadership and supervisory management.
