Biography

Evans Osemwegie is Chairman of the Board of Africa Trade & Investment Bank and Managing Director of Evago Global Capital, an emerging-markets investment banking platform he has led since 2009. His career brings together investment banking, corporate finance, trading, investment management, legal analysis, governance and institution building. [[PARAGRAPH]] Educated in banking, finance and law, Evans holds an LLB from the University of Derby, an LLM from King’s College London and completed the Bar Professional Training Course at The City Law School. His academic work included research into the legal regulation of derivative instruments, providing an early foundation for his later work across financial markets, investment strategy, risk, corporate finance and cross-border transactions. [[PARAGRAPH]] His professional experience spans public service, higher education, entrepreneurship and financial services. Earlier in his career, he served as a legal adviser within the UK Ministry of Justice and later as a visiting lecturer at Riga Graduate School of Law, teaching commercial law, European consumer law and international tax law. He subsequently served as Managing Director for Latvia of the Founder Institute, the Silicon Valley-founded pre-seed accelerator, where he supported entrepreneurs with customer validation, business-model development, investor readiness, fundraising and go-to-market strategy. [[PARAGRAPH]] Evans is also Co-Founder of the Africa Investment Academy, an investor-education platform established to help individuals and institutions understand how to evaluate and invest in opportunities across African markets. Through the Academy, he has supported investor communities, delivered investment education and contributed to executive-learning programmes covering areas including African investment, financial decision-making and corporate governance. His involvement reflects a longstanding belief that stronger institutions and better investment outcomes depend on informed, capable and responsible decision-makers. [[PARAGRAPH]] Evans is also Co-Founder of Family Wealth Legacies, a London-based multi-family-office and wealth-planning platform supporting entrepreneurial families, business owners and high-net-worth individuals. His work includes estate and succession planning, family governance, trusts, investment structures, business exits, intergenerational wealth transfer and long-term family stewardship. [[PARAGRAPH]] Alongside his commercial responsibilities, Evans serves as a member of the Board of Trustees of Shooters Hill Sixth Form College, contributing to strategic direction, financial oversight, risk management and institutional governance for an academy serving nearly 2,000 students. [[PARAGRAPH]] At ATIB, he provides Board leadership across strategy, governance, capital architecture, major institutional relationships and the long-term development of the bank’s pan-African platform. His leadership combines commercial discipline with a strong commitment to education, mentorship and helping families, entrepreneurs, investors and institutions use capital responsibly to create enduring value.
