TERM LOANS
STRUCTURED FINANCE FOR DEFINED BUSINESS GROWTH
FINANCE WITH A DEFINED PURPOSE
Some investments create value over several years and therefore require financing that extends beyond the normal operating cycle.
A business may need capital to increase production capacity, establish a new location, expand distribution, modernise facilities, introduce new technology or implement another clearly defined growth programme.
The financing period should reflect the purpose of the investment, its implementation timetable and the time required for the business to generate sufficient cash flow to service the facility.
ATIB considers the commercial rationale, funding requirement, borrower contribution, financial position and expected repayment capacity when assessing whether term finance may be appropriate.
TERM LOAN REQUIREMENTS
Term finance may support a range of clearly defined investments where the expenditure, expected economic benefit and repayment path can be assessed credibly.
BUSINESS EXPANSION
Finance for additional operating capacity, new locations, expanded distribution, increased service capability and other documented initiatives intended to support sustainable business growth.
CAPITAL EXPENDITURE
Finance for commercial premises, operational facilities, infrastructure, technology, storage, warehousing and other investments expected to provide value over the medium or longer term.
MODERNISATION & PRODUCTIVITY
Investment in automation, digital systems, operational upgrades, process improvement and other expenditure intended to improve efficiency, resilience or competitiveness.
STRATEGIC GROWTH INITIATIVES
Finance for defined initiatives such as new product lines, geographic expansion, processing capability, distribution infrastructure or other programmes extending beyond routine operating expenditure.
FINANCING ALIGNED WITH LONG-TERM CASH FLOW
Longer-term debt should provide sufficient time for a credible investment to be implemented and for the business to generate the cash required for repayment.
-
A clearly defined investment and use of funds
-
A financing period appropriate to the investment
-
A credible contribution from the business where required
-
Repayment supported by sustainable operating cash flow
-
Appropriate security and financial protections
-
Ongoing visibility over performance and use of proceeds
ATIB may assess historical and projected financial performance, existing obligations, implementation costs, management capacity, market demand and the expected financial contribution of the proposed investment. Financing should remain at a level that allows the business to meet its debt obligations while maintaining sufficient liquidity for normal operations.
LONGER-TERM CAPITAL WITH A CLEAR REPAYMENT PATH
A term loan should give a business sufficient time to implement a defined investment and generate the financial benefit required to service the facility.
ATIB seeks to align the amount, tenor and repayment profile of eligible financing with the commercial purpose, borrower contribution, expected cash flows and wider financial position of the business.
Shorter-term operating requirements may be supported through Working Capital Finance. Machinery and equipment may be better suited to Asset Finance, while existing debt obligations may require Refinancing. Major projects or more complex financing structures may connect with Structured & Project Finance.
